Eazel provides support for ZIP, RAR, TAR, JAR, and several other archive formats. This means that you can use the application to compress your data into an archive and to extract data from an existing archive. Another thing Eazel can do is to back up your important data. You can perform a manual backup if you like to do things yourself; if you don’t, you can schedule backup tasks to be performed automatically.

You can install Eazel on any Windows edition from Windows 98 onward. It is a standard installation process: download an executable, run it, click through the onscreen instructions presented by a setup wizard. There are a few things that must be mentioned about the installation process: you can choose one of several supported languages, you can opt out of installing the Babylon Toolbar and Coupish, and, once the installation completes, you will be taken to a “Thank you” webpage.

Eazel’s interface is typical for an application of this type: there’s a main pane that lets you browse your machine; above it there are buttons for creating an archive, extracting data from an archive, deleting an archive, and so on. It will take little time to familiarize yourself with this user friendly interface.

As mentioned above, you can use Eazel to create archives and to extract data from archives. The application provides support for ZIP, RAR, EAZ, ARJ, ACE, ARC, TAR, CAB, UUE, B64, JAR, LHA, LZH, ZOO, Z, and GZip. You can use the application’s archiving functionality by clicking the correct button on its interface, by using a very handy Wizard, or from the right click context menu. The application integrates into the Windows shell, meaning that the functionality it has to offer is never more than a right click away.

On top of this, Eazel has some backup functionality to offer. You can also use the application to create backup jobs. With the handy schedule function, you can set the backup job to be performed automatically.

All the functionality Eazel has to offer comes at no cost to you. Or to put it in other words, Eazel is freeware.

There’s a lot to like about Eazel. It’s free, very easy to use, supports a wide range of archive formats, and it can run backup jobs automatically.

Pros

Easily install Eazel on just about any Windows edition. There’s a handy Wizard that makes using Eazel very easy. Support for numerous archive formats is provided. Support for multiple languages is provided. Eazel can be used for backup tasks. Eazel is freeware.

Cons

Eazel integrated with the context menu but, even though I installed the application in English, the shell integration was not in English.
